Collagen is the main structural protein of our skin and makes our skin appear firm and smooth.
However, with age, the natural collagen production slows, so that our skin gets thinner and loses volume and elasticity. The consequences: Wrinkles develop and the facial features begin to sag – the whole face loses its contours.
Radiesse® is composed of synthetic calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a gel carrier of sterile water for injection, glycerin, and sodium carboxymethylcellulose (CMC). Due to its unique modular effect, Radiesse® provides immediate volume and correction but also results in a long-lasting improvement of skin quality through the regeneration of dermal structures.
1.Immediate 1:1 correction
Once injected, the CMC gel carrier with CaHA microspheres results in effective wrinkle filling and immediate 1:1 correction of tissue deficits. The gel carrier is fully resorbed within several weeks after injection, while the CaHA microspheres remain in the tissue for weeks or even months.
2.Stimulation of collagen neogenesis
The CaHA microspheres of Radiesse® form a “scaffold” within the skin. The mechanical stimuli transmitted by this “scaffold” trigger fibroblasts to produce new collagen.
Tight collagen network strengthens the dermis
A firm network of collagen fibers has formed in the dermis, providing a lifting and contouring effect. The CaHA microspheres naturally degrade to calcium and phosphate ions, which are metabolized by the body‘s normal processes.
3. High density of collagen and elastin
The newly formed network provides long-term structural support of the dermal microenvironment.
The new collagen provides a long-term effect that may last for a year or more in many patients.
